Floating Fruit Investigation

22nd May 2018

Did you know apples float but mangoes sink. Primary 1 carried out a floating and sinking investigation to discover how many fruits float and how many sink. Before we carried out each investigation we had to predict what we thought would happen. We were surprised at some results; strawberries float and grapes sink.

Afterwards we got to make some fruit kebabs. We used fantastic descriptive language to describe all the fruits before they were prepared for our kebabs. As part of our work on Healthy eating we listened to and watched the story 'I will not ever never eat a tomato'. Lola was a very fussy eater but just as Lola did in the story, all of the P.1 children sampled a fruit they hadn't tried before. keep up the healthy eating to make sure we get our 5 a day.Well done with all the excellent keep fit records and diaries recorded from last week. Make sure to make the most of the long June evenings to get outdoors and keep active!
