Mr. Cullen's retirement celebrations.

28th Mar 2023

Last night our school community gathered to say goodbye to our retiring Principal and to acknowledge all that Mr. Cullen has contributed to St. Mary's over the last 23 years. Thank you for gathering in such crowds to say farewell to a much loved Principal and friend. To say we are proud is an understatement. The mass was a beautiful ceremony of prayer, music and song. The children excelled and were an absolute credit.

The staff of St. Mary’s wish to thank everyone involved especially Fr. O Dwyer for the beautiful mass and our amazing PTA who helped prepare and decorate the hall on Sunday and to those who served the delicious tea at the function in the hall afterwards. As always, your attention to detail made this occasion extra special.

A special mention must go to Mrs Stephanie Gormley and Mrs Ciara Mc Ginley for their help in preparing the children so diligently for all the retirement celebrations and to our past pupils Dominic, Orla, Luke, Eva and Aoife for their support too. The music and singing were outstanding and greatly enhanced our celebrations. Thank you to the staff for their assistance in organising these special events to mark Mr. Cullen’s retirement. To our wonderful cook Annmarie who made not one but two cakes for the retirement celebrations and catered for the function in the hall.

Mr. Cullen and his extended family were overwhelmed and want to express their gratitude for all the hard work that went into the retirement celebrations. Mr. Cullen also wishes to pass on his thanks to the entire school community for the kind words, lovely cards, generous gifts and heartfelt messages he received as part of his retirement celebrations. We hope the images and video capture the sentiment of an evening which will live long in our hearts and provide Mr. Cullen with memories to cherish forever. Happy retirement from us all. 🌈
